Welcome to the legendary Bike Across Florida 2008
Where the toughest cyclists will measure themselves against the clock and the elements! The 38th Annual Cross-Florida will be back on Sunday, November 9 2008 with the 6th edition of Bike Across Florida (BAF.) The BAF 08 kicks off with a pasta bash in Cocoa Beach on Saturday, November 8. This is America's toughest and longest single-day endurance bike ride and it starts Sunday, November 9 at LaQuinta Inn in Cocoa Beach. Cyclists will pedal 170 miles to Crystal River. A 55- mile and 33-mile ride is also featured and starts at the same time, same place and finishes in Winter Springs. This ride, named the Officer Down Memorial Challenge (ODMC), is dedicated to fallen Law Enforcement Officers and a Fireman who have died during active duty. Because it is a true accomplishment all finishers receive a medal.

Amenities:
It all starts with the BAF pasta bash on Saturday, Nov. 8 (5:30 PM).
Each participant and registered supporter receive a commemorative T-shirt, goodie bag, product raffle ticket and much more. To receive a (guaranteed) T-shirt, applicants must register before October 12. Attendants will be staffing an unprecedented seven fully stocked support stations along the route, providing water, drinks and healthy snacks to participants. The toughest single-day cycling tour in the U.S., Bike Across Florida's 6th edition and the ODMC _08 ends with a great post-ride lunch and an award ceremony. All finishers will receive a medal and bragging rights. Trophies of excellence will be awarded to the first, second and third male and female finishers. Pledge cards for your favorite charity are available by clicking on the registration button. Your pledge card will be stamped by the registrar.

Who can participate:
Anyone riding a bicycle can ride the 33-mile or 55 mile ODMC. Anyone cycling an average of 17 mph can ride the incredible BAF challenge within 11 hours. Any bicycle can be used to accomplish the endeavor. Para-athletes must mail in a description of equipment to be used and description of handicap with registration form. The BAF 2008 honors active duty Armed Forces members and Iraq/Afghanistan veterans. Men and women in uniform receive a discounted rate when registering on Saturday (must present AF ID at check in.)
